6.98kW Solar PV & 10kWh Battery Storage Installation

Project Overview

This residential solar installation was designed to help the homeowner generate more of their own renewable electricity, reduce reliance on the National Grid and store excess solar energy for use later in the day.

Optimum Electrics designed and installed a bespoke 6.98kW Solar PV and Battery Storage system using 15 DMEGC Solar Infinity RT 96 panels alongside Sigenergy’s intelligent home energy technology.

With panels installed across different roof orientations, Tigo optimisers were fitted to the five panels on the north-east-facing roof to support their individual performance. The completed installation provides the homeowner with a future-ready renewable energy system combining solar generation, battery storage and intelligent energy management.

Understanding the Customer’s Requirements

The homeowner wanted a renewable energy system that would make effective use of the available roof space while helping them reduce the amount of electricity purchased from the grid.

Because the solar panels were installed across roof areas with different orientations, the system needed to manage variations in generation throughout the day. Five Tigo TS4-A-O optimisers were therefore installed on the panels positioned on the north-east-facing roof, allowing those panels to be individually optimised.

A 10kWh battery was included to store surplus solar energy generated during daylight hours, making it available for the household to use during the evening or at other times when electricity demand exceeds solar generation.

Installation Process

Following a detailed site survey and bespoke system design, scaffolding was erected across two areas of the property to provide safe access to the relevant roof spaces.

Our installation team fitted 15 DMEGC Solar 465W Infinity RT 96 Solar PV panels using the Fastensol roof mounting system. The panels were carefully positioned to make effective use of the available roof space while maintaining a neat and professional finish.

Five Tigo TS4-A-O optimisers were installed on the panels located on the north-east-facing roof. These allow the relevant panels to operate independently, helping the system manage differences in roof orientation and individual panel performance.

Inside the property, we installed a 6kW Sigenergy Single-Phase Hybrid Inverter alongside a 10kWh Sigenergy battery. The system intelligently manages the flow of electricity between the solar panels, battery, home and National Grid, helping the homeowner use more of the renewable electricity generated at the property.

A new consumer unit incorporating surge protection was also installed, providing additional protection for the property’s electrical installation and connected equipment.

To complete the external installation, bird protection meshing was fitted around the solar array. This helps prevent birds from nesting beneath the panels and protects the system against potential damage and debris.

The installation was then fully tested and commissioned, with the homeowner provided with the relevant certification, warranties and guidance on monitoring and managing their new system.

Why We Chose These Products

DMEGC Solar Infinity RT 96 Panels

The 465W DMEGC Solar Infinity RT 96 panels provide strong power output from a relatively compact residential array. Using 15 panels created a total installed capacity of 6.975kW, helping the homeowner generate a substantial amount of renewable electricity from the available roof space.

Tigo TS4-A-O Optimisers

Tigo optimisers were installed on the five panels positioned on the north-east-facing roof. They provide panel-level optimisation, helping each of these panels perform independently rather than allowing differences in generation to affect the wider array.

Sigenergy Home Energy System

The Sigenergy system integrates solar generation, battery storage and intelligent energy management within one platform. Through the Sigenergy app, the homeowner can monitor solar production, household consumption and battery charge levels in real time.

The 10kWh battery stores surplus solar electricity for use later, helping increase solar self-consumption and reduce reliance on grid electricity during the evening and overnight.

Fastensol Roof Mounting System

The Fastensol mounting system provides a secure and reliable fixing solution for the solar array. It was selected to create a strong, long-lasting installation while maintaining a clean finish across the roof.

Results & Benefits

The completed installation provides the homeowner with:

  • A 6.98kW solar array generating renewable electricity at the property.

  • 10kWh of battery storage for using more solar energy outside daylight hours.

  • Panel-level optimisation for the five panels on the north-east-facing roof.

  • Reduced reliance on electricity imported from the National Grid.

  • The potential to lower household electricity bills through increased solar self-consumption.

  • Real-time monitoring through the Sigenergy app.

  • Additional electrical protection from the new consumer unit and surge protection device.

  • Long-term protection for the solar array through bird protection meshing.

  • A future-ready renewable energy system designed around the property’s available roof space and energy requirements.
