10.12kW Solar PV, Battery Storage & Electrical Upgrade Installation

Project Overview

This project involved far more than the installation of a solar PV system. The homeowner wanted to modernise their property's electrical infrastructure while investing in renewable energy that would reduce running costs and provide greater energy independence for years to come.

Optimum Electrics designed and installed a bespoke 10.12kW Solar PV and Battery Storage system, alongside a full consumer unit upgrade, Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) and additional electrical improvements.

By combining high-performance AIKO solar panels with the intelligent Sigenergy energy management platform, we delivered a complete solution that future-proofed both the home's electrical installation and its energy supply.

Understanding the Customer's Requirements

The homeowner wanted to make the most of their available roof space while ensuring the property's electrical installation was capable of supporting a modern renewable energy system.

This project combined a high-performance solar PV and battery storage installation with a number of important electrical upgrades, creating a complete solution that enhances both the home's energy efficiency and electrical infrastructure.

The system was designed to maximise renewable energy generation from the available roof space while providing substantial battery storage to make the most of excess solar energy throughout the day and into the evening.

Alongside the renewable energy installation, we upgraded the property's consumer unit, carried out a full Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) and completed additional electrical improvements, including the installation of a new TV socket.

By delivering all of these works as part of a single project, Optimum Electrics provided a fully integrated solution that ensures the home's electrical system is safe, compliant and ready to support modern energy technologies for many years to come.

Installation Process

Following a detailed site survey and system design, our team constructed scaffolding to provide safe access before installing the 22 AIKO Neostar 2S solar panels across the roof using a high-quality roof mounting system.

To protect the installation from nesting birds and reduce future maintenance requirements, bird protection meshing was fitted around the perimeter of the array.

Inside the property, we installed a 12.5kW Sigenergy Hybrid Inverter alongside three 8kWh Sigenergy batteries, providing a total of 24kWh of energy storage. This intelligent system automatically manages the flow of electricity between the solar panels, battery storage, the home and the National Grid, helping maximise self-consumption throughout the day.

As part of the wider project, our electricians also completed a consumer unit upgrade, carried out a comprehensive Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) and installed a new TV socket, ensuring the home's electrical system met current standards and was ready to support the new renewable energy technologies.

Why We Chose These Products

AIKO Neostar 2S Solar Panels

The AIKO Neostar 2S panels deliver exceptional efficiency and reliability, enabling homeowners to generate more renewable electricity from the available roof space. Their premium all-black design also provides a sleek, contemporary appearance.

SigEnergy Home Energy System

SigEnergy's intelligent hybrid system combines solar generation and battery storage into one seamless platform. With real-time monitoring through a single app, the homeowner can easily track energy production, battery performance and household consumption while optimising how and when electricity is used.

Consumer Unit Upgrade

Upgrading the consumer unit ensures the home's electrical installation is equipped to safely accommodate modern renewable technologies while providing improved protection and compliance with current electrical regulations.

Results & Benefits

The completed installation now provides the homeowner with:

  • Lower electricity bills through self-generated renewable energy.

  • 24kWh of battery storage for greater energy independence.

  • An upgraded electrical installation ready for modern energy technologies.

  • Improved electrical safety following a new consumer unit and EICR.

  • Reduced maintenance thanks to bird protection meshing.

  • A future-ready energy solution designed to support changing household electricity demands.

Conclusion

This project demonstrates how a renewable energy installation can form part of a wider home electrical upgrade.
