Electrical Works Following Asbestos Removal
The existing electrical services were affected by the asbestos-removal programme, requiring sections of containment, cabling and lighting equipment to be removed or replaced.
Once the relevant areas had been cleared and confirmed as safe, Optimum Electrics began the electrical reinstatement works.
Our team installed new containment to provide secure and organised routes for the replacement cabling. The containment layout was planned around the building’s existing structure and the requirements of the renewed lighting scheme.
Close communication between all parties was essential to ensure the electrical installation only progressed once each area had been released for safe access.
New Electrical Containment
New containment was installed throughout the affected sections of the university building.
This provided suitable protection and support for the electrical cabling while creating accessible routes for future inspection and maintenance.
The containment was carefully positioned to coordinate with ceilings, walls and other building services. Attention was also given to the finished appearance of the installation, particularly in areas visible to students, staff and visitors.
Replacement Lighting Scheme
Optimum Electrics installed a new lighting system to replace the equipment removed during the asbestos works.
The lighting was positioned to provide suitable illumination for the use of each space, creating a safe and comfortable environment for students and staff.
The completed scheme included new fittings, cabling and electrical connections, with each part of the installation fully tested before being returned to service.
The new lighting also provided the university with a more reliable installation and reduced the ongoing maintenance concerns associated with the previous equipment.
Testing and Completion
Once the new containment, cabling and lighting had been installed, the electrical system was inspected, tested and commissioned.
All circuits and lighting equipment were checked to confirm they were operating safely and correctly before the completed areas were handed back to the university.
The works provided Bath Spa University with a fully reinstated electrical installation ready to support the continued use of the building.
